The Frost Staff grants you immunity to being Chilled or Frozen, which help you retain speed of movement and spell casting. However, you are not going to encounter any monsters that will have this ability for some time, and in fact, the only slowing magic you will soon encounter is the poison from the Chapter 2 boss. While the aura, which provides the same benefits to surrounding monster, will prove a hindrance in regards to crowd control; especially for solo players relying on the effects of cold for survival.
