Magicka, because of its humor and satire, is filled with references to other games, movies and internet phenomenon. Very few are subtle.

Vanilla Ice	A reference to the rapper Vanilla Ice. In computer slang, the adjective «Vanilla» can also mean «Original» or «Unchanged» or just simply the Vanilla flavor for icecream.
The Enchanter	A reference to Tim the Enchanter from Monty Python & The Holy Grail.
Let off some steam	The achievement icon depicts the logo of Steam, a digital service through which Magicka is distributed. It can also reference Arnold Schwarzenegger's «Let off some steam, Bennett!» one-liner from Commando as well as the song Let off some steam by a dutch band Outlandish.
IMMA FIRIN' MAH LAZER!!!!	«Shoop da whoop» internet meme.
Never cross the beams	A famous quote from Ghost Busters.
MU-MU-MU-MULTIKILL!	«Multi kill!» and «MO-MO-MO-MONSTER KILL!» are announcer quotes from the Unreal series, in response to the player simultaneously killing three or five enemies respectively.
Deep Impact	Deep Impact is a 1998 science-fiction disaster-drama film.
An eye for an eye	A reference to the code of Hammurabi.
No more trolling	In the internet slang, «trolling» is posting intentionally provocative comments to draw an emotional response from other readers.
Solid Snake	Solid Snake is the protagonist of the Metal Gear Solid series.
Saved by the king	Likely a reference to the movie Army Of Darkness.
KHAAAAAAAAN!	Khan Noonien Singh is a villain from Star Trek. In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Captain Kirk shouts «KHAAAAAAAAN!» into his communicator after being marooned.
88mph	88 mph is the speed DeLorean from Back to the Future requires to hit to initiate time travel.
More like the Aristocats	The Aristocats is a 1970 Disney film.
Play it again, Vlad	Based on the misquote «Play it again, Sam», from the 1942 film Casablanca. Could also be a reference an eponymous series of games from Superior Software.
Don't fear the reaper	A reference to the song (Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Öyster Cult.
Dragon "Slayer"	«Dragon slayer» is a common fantasy term encountered in many forms of media, which can refer to either a person or a weapon. This could also be a reference to the Dragon Slayer series of games.
I think Magicka is a pretty cool guy	«Pretty cool guy» internet meme.
There can be only one	A frequent quote from the 1986 film Highlander.
This is Magicka!	A reference to the famous scene from the 2007 film 300, in which king Leonidas kicks the persian messenger down into a well after proclaiming "This is Sparta!".
I put on my robe and wizard hat	«Robe and wizard hat» internet meme.
Sherlock Holmes	Sherlock Holmes is the famous detective from Conan Doyle's novels.
King's Quest	King's Quest is a classic series of point-and-click adventure games by {{w|Sierra Entertainment}.
Wingardium Leviosa	The levitation spell from Harry Potter series.
First Blood	Rambo: First Blood is a cult 1982 action film. The titular character also wields an M60 machine gun.
Blue... No Yelloooow!	Another reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. A quote from the scene where Sir Galahad must answer the bridgekeeper's questions to cross the chasm and stumbles when naming his favorite color.
Finders keepers	The proverb «Finders keepers, losers weepers».
It's over nine thousand!!!!	«Over 9000» internet meme.
"Oh gravity, thou art a heartless bitch"	Quote from The Big Bang Theory, a 2007 sitcom.
It's raining (beast)men	A reference to the song It's Raining Men by the Weather Girls and its more known cover by Geri Halliwell.
101st Airborne	A reference to the renowned US 101st Airborne Division, also known as Screaming Eagles.
The perfect storm	The Perfect Storm is a 2000 disaster film based on an book of the same name.
State Alchemist	In the Fullmetal Alchemist anime and manga series, State Alchemist is a title given to alchemists employed by the military.
There is no goat level	«There is no cow level» is a cheat code from Starcraft. This in itself is a nod to an old rumor regarding a secret cow level hidden in Diablo. The rumor was proven false by developers, but as a fan tribute they've later included a secret cow level in Diablo II.
Houdini	Harry Houdini was a famous magician, escapologist, actor and stunt performer.
RPG much?	A mockery of a traditional starter quest scenario found with slight variations in countless RPGs, where the player is required to kill a number of rats in a villager's cellar. Quest givers in World of Warcraft are marked with a yellow exclamation sign floating over their heads.
OMG! They killed Yellow!	A reference to the South Park running joke «Oh my god! They killed Kenny!». Aswell as the 2 part trailer "Magicka - How the game got delayed!" where yellow was killed.
Killing your friends, you're doing it wrong	«You're doing it wrong» internet meme.
We are the champions	We Are The Champions is an iconic song by Queen.
I call it a Hawking Hole	A quote from Futurama, describing a time paradox resulting in a rip in space-time.
Mission improbable	A reference to the movie series Mission Impossible, and South Park S13E03 quote "that's improbable, but not impossible".
Bad Taste	Bad Taste is a 1987 sci-fi comedy horror film.
Cooking by the book	A reference to the song Cooking by the book from a children TV show Lazy Town, which gained a big internet following.
One in a million?	A reference to the concept of one in a million being the same as one in one, found in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.
Basic Element	Basic Element is a swedish eurodance band.
I'm the wizard king, I can do anything!	«I'm the lizard king, I can do anything!» is a quote from the song Celebration Of The Lizard performed by The Doors.
Lead Farmer	«I'm a lead farmer!» is a quote from Tropic Thunder.
Good Company	The name and the smiley face label on the achievement icon are a reference to Battlefield: Bad Company.
Swedish Summer Achievement	A reference to the swedish summer of 2008, which had more rainy than sunny days.
Friendship is Magicka	A reference to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, A kids tv show that even adults like to watch, calling themselves bronies.
Better You Than Me	A reference to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, where Han doesn't want to go to the Detention Center to free Princess Leia and states, "Better her than me."

Locations

"Midgard" - Final fantasy VII - The name of the capital city of Final fantasy VII's world. "Midgård" is also part of scandinavian mythos (Asa tro), the place where humans reside, in the middle of it you find Asgård. Freely translated it means "middle yard".

"Castle Aldrheim" - Star Wars IV: A New Hope - The name of the castle, Aldrheim sounds very similar to Prinsess Leia's home planet, Alderaan, destroyed by the Empire's mighty Death Star. Aldrheim also sounds much like the swedish word for nursing home: "äldrehem."

"Dunderhead" - Star Wars IV: A New Hope - Dunderhead has close resemblances to the city Anchorhead on the planet Tatooine. While the planet itself has been featured in most Star Wars movies, The city of Anchorhead is the space port Luke, Obi Wan and Han visit to escape Tatooine in A New Hope.

"Vlad's Village" - Diablo 2 - The music playing upon entering the dreary, rainy village is a callback to the original acoustics played in Tristram of Diablo and Diablo 2, and the atmosphere itself resembles Diablo 2's with the rain and bridge into a sad town.

"The Lonely Island" - The Lonely Island

"Nunshul Pass" - Monty Python & The Holy Grail - one of the Black Knight's quotes is "None shall pass". Could also be a reference to a rock album, None Shall Pass or the quote from The Lord of the Rings.

"The Island of R'lyeh" - The Call of Cthulhu - R'lyeh is the resting place of Cthulhu, a Great Old One.

"Castle Aaaaargh" - Monty Python & The Holy Grail - a name of Castle mentioned in the prophecy.

"Outsmouth" - The Shadow Over Innsmouth - Innsmouth is a fictional town featured in one of H.P. Lovecraft's horror novellas.

One of the box arts of the game[1] bares strong resemblance to the box art for "The Legend of Zelda : Four swords Adventures"[2] Which can be seen by comparing these two pictures
