Stay a while and listen.: Deckard Cain says this when spoken to in "Diablo I" and "Diablo II".; (Which is notable because he says it every time you address him, and he identifies items for free, so many players had to hear this annoyingly often. This is again refered to in the "Diablo 3" Barbarian trailer where Deckard Cain himself says "Nobody ever listens")

Orcs and Goblins: name of race and title of Army book for Warhammer Fantasy Battle. It could also be a reference to the first game in the Warcraft series, named Orcs and Humans.

You don't have to but it wouldn't be a bad idea to burn the rope.: Sign in the room before facing off against Behold, The Watcher, referencing You Have to Burn the Rope a 2008 flash game.; Burning the rope has the same effect in both games as it kills the Boss by dropping a chandelier from the ceiling.

Behold, the Watcher himself is a reference to Dungeons and Dragons and one of its many iconic monsters, the Beholder.

And remember the safe word is Banana: Reference to Family Guy (S02 E14)and is a running joke in other comic skits as a reference to the need of a safety word in "rough activities"

Chapter 4

A New Hope: The name of this chapter, is a reference to "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope"

No, Mr. King… I expect you to die: James Bond. “The Machine” is a reference to the laser that Goldfinger uses for his attempt to kill James Bond. Or it could be in reference to “The Machine” in "The Princess Bride"

Admiral Agnar yelling “It’s a trap!”: "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi". Admiral Akbar's “It’s a trap” has become a meme. The voiceover also sounds like "It's a tarp!" which is an alternate of the meme.

When defeating the warlock, he will begin casting a lighting spell and the King will throw him into a trapdoor.: Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

The soldiers running into the Town Grinder yelling Freedom!: Braveheart

Chapter 5

Havindr Strikes Back: The name of this chapter is a reference to the movie "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back"

In the cutscene, the guard tells the king it's madness: The movie 300, instead of shouting "Madness...? This is Sparta!" the king agrees.

The cutscene at the beginning: The movie "300". Pushing the soldier in to the hole grants you a related achievement.

In a cutscene a soldier runs back and says the captain is dead, it then shows the captain falling to his knees and being shot with many arrows.: This is most likely a reference to the movie "Platoon" (the unlucky captains name is "Eliaf", the soldier in the iconic scene from "Platoon" is named "Sgt. Elias"), but is also similar to the death of Boromir from "The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring", when he is shot several times, by the Uruk'Hai after saving Merry and Pippin.

This could also be another 300 reference, to the way in which Leonidas dies.

KHAAAAAAAAN: Star Trek: Wrath of Khan.

Chapter 6

Return of the Wizard: The name of this chapter is a reference to the movie "Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi", or less likely, "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King".

It seems the outcome of our battle will be decided not by our minds, but by our skills at spellcasting.: This is a reference to the movie "Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones", when Count Dooku is in the middle of his duel with Yoda.

Chapter 7

Return to Castle Aldrheim: The name of this chapter is a reference to the game "Return to Castle Wolfenstein".

The entrance into the chapter shows the wizards entering the past at high speeds.: Back to the Future. You also receive the “88mph” achievement.

Chapter 8

The Mine Sweepers: The name of this chapter is a reference to the game Minesweeper.

The entire chapter…: …is a reference to "Lord of the Rings". Specifically the mines of Moria. Passing through the mines, the entrance in the side of a mountain, and the goblin archers inside.; There’s even a secret area with a sword called Stung, which was made by the elves, and glows when enemies are near. It lies beside two skeletons spooning and bearing great resemblance to Frodo and Sam.

Chapter 9

Symphony of the Twilight: The name of this chapter is a reference to "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night", as is Vlad's flinging of his wine glass. Also could be a reference to the Twilight book series by Stephenie Meyer and its vampiric themes.
At the beginning of the level, there is a skull atop a sign, named Murray: Monkey Island 3 The Curse of Monkey Island

Looking in the water on the right of an island where you fight two trees, you can see an X-shaped vehicle: Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

A female body holding a relic, found in the secret tomb near the chapel.: Tomb Raider

The necromancers say rise and shine when casting spells at certain times: Sometimes said to wake people up (plants vs zombies?) also monologue of g-man (half-life 2)

The music playing while in the village in front of Vlad's castle: Almost an exact copy of the music played in "Diablo II" Rogue Encampment, the starting town.(It is also raining and has a river with a bridge exactly like said encampment.); The starting tones are very similar to the Tristram song of "Diablo I", as well.

Vlad will tell you to "Save the village - save the world!" if you walk up to the castle first: "Heroes", Save the cheerleader - save the world.

The crest over the door of the castle: Is the Paradox Interactive symbol.

Your character will say “Hey, it’s the guy from Loom” if you look into the mirror in the castle: Loom, a game by LucasArts.

A body in leather carrying a chain-whip in the hallway to Vlad: Castlevania

Vlad saying “Have at you”: Could be both a reference to "Castlevania" and to the Black Knight of “Monty Python and The Holy Grail”.

Vlad also says “They said I was foolish to build the castle in the swamp.”: Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

During the fight Vlad says “Impressive! Most impressive!”: Darth Vader uses same lines when fighting Luke in "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"

A Grim Tango: The name of this chapter is a reference to the game Grim Fandango

Raiders of the Lost Ruins: The name of this chapter is a reference to the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark"

The wizard's teleportation blast: The game Supreme Commander has the titular commander's combat insertion accompanied with a tree-shoving blast.

The alpine skier who jumps from a rainbow-colored ramp on the hill, does a backflip and gets eaten by snow monster: SkiFree

Dwarf Priests will shout a variety of things in combat, including "Metzen!" and "Pardo!": These are the surnames of some of the creative department members at Blizzard Entertainment

Fafnir the dragon, the story of his greed and his treasure, and plunging Gram (a sword found stuck in a tree) into his stomach/heart: Völsungasaga, Norse Mythology

The Holy Divider: A reference to the song "Holy Diver" by Dio

Fafnir’s title, “the Burninator”: Strong Bad's creation “Trogdor the Burninator”, which in turn is a reference to "the Terminator" from the movie of the same name.

Before battling him, Fafnir's asks "Who disturbs my slumber?": The words spoken by the Cave of Wonders in the Disney adaptation of Aladdin.; Also may be a reference to the Dragon boss in the game Medievil, who says a very similar line before you fight him

After defeating Fafnir, Future Vlad says “Help us, Fafnir. You're our only hope” whilst being a blue, see-through projection.: Star Wars: New Hope, where Obi-Wan Kenobi is receiving a holographic message from Leia.

That's a lot of princesses: Is a refrence to Godzilla where Matthew Broderick said "that's a lot of fish" Since in the end of the level you are fighting a very big lizard.

Chapter 12

At the Mountains of Madness: The name of this chapter is a reference to H.P. Lovecraft's novella At the Mountains of Madness

Assatur’s title “The King in Yellow”: Cthulhu mythos; Hastur, “The King in Yellow”.

During the fight with Assatur, Vlad will use the 'Signal', flailing his arms above his head.: Team America: World Police

After being defeated, Assatur will yell “THIS IS IMPROBABLE”: Big Bang Theory

After being defeated, Assatur will yell “DO NOT WANT”: Reference to the Chinese script translation of "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" that was subsequently mistranslated back into English.

After defeating Assatur, Vlad will tell you to use "Town Portal" to return home: Diablo

After defeating Assatur, Vlad and two other ghosts show up: Return of the Jedi
